My method of proofreading begins when you email me a transcript in PDF format. If you need a converter, a free one is available at http://www.cutepdf.com/products/CutePDF/writer.asp. Download and follow the prompts to install. Open your transcript in your regular software (like Word) and click “Print.” Instead of your regular printer, choose CutePDF Writer and click “Print”. Your file is converted to a PDF file and you get a “Save” prompt to save the PDF transcript to your desired location on your PC or cloud. Attach to an email and send it to me.
I proofread directly on a copy of your document using iAnnotate4 software on my iPad. I return your annotated transcript in PDF format via email. I’ll send you only the pages that have corrections (no blank pages) in red and yellow highlights. In order to see all corrections – both red and yellow highlights – open the PDF file in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader only. Using preview or other viewers will not show corrections correctly. Because I do not need to scan or print, proofreading with iAnnotate4 software on my iPad is a very quick and efficient process. This means you receive annotated pages quickly.
It is greatly appreciated if the transcripts you submit are final drafts and as close to turn-in ready as possible for the fastest turnaround. If your job is longer than 100 pages, please send me the file in pieces so that I can be working on that portion while you are working on another portion.
